Crazy laughters, talking craps, more crazy laughters, more craps...and more nonsensical nonsenses as the night goes "younger"...supper...dinner...foot reflexology...

I never knew the Accounts Department can be so lively during my days in the Projects Department...only found this out after i've been there for about 2 weeks...

Even after two projects...i still had to stayed up LATE in the office...the consoling part is that i would not have to stay back for nothing...*winks*...and for my two other remaining off-in-lieus which there isn't any days left for me to claim...really worked till no day no night...i'm going to die of fatigue soon...it's so scary to read from the news how a healthy person just collapse and faint and die like that...that might just happen to me...*CHOY!!!*

Stupid European company who quitted...made us do EVERYTHING from scratch...i played the role of churning invoices...i had been doing that for 1 week plus before every invoices for each exhibitor had been done...imagine how many exhibitors there are! After database had been built up and invoices had been done...we have to update and update and update and double-check and double-check and double-check...until my eyeballs almost dropped...

Me and my "49 June" became a laughing stock ever since one of the late night working...Katherine still remembers it so clearly la...

There's a high chance that i will be wanted back after SIP...i don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing...

Last e-Journal...and i thought the third one was the last!

It was the last week of my internship in MP International Pte Ltd. Time really flies fast. I had really been through a lot, both physically and mentally. Days in MP had been like a roller coaster ride to me. I still recall I has excited and looking forward to internship, and then feeling stressed up when I was plunged into two projects, miserable when I got sandwiched between two supervisors, started to dread coming to work, heaved a great sign of relief when the projects I am involved in were over and feeling a great sense of satisfaction of what I had accomplished throughout my journey with MP.

I managed to enjoy a few days of knocking off work at 6:45pm sharp after my last project, 2007 ASEAN-BIS. While helping out with Connie on STOM Closing Report while she was on urgent leave, I was being “activated” to go over the Accounts Department to help Carol, our Senior Finance Manager (Regional). It was for ITMA ASIA (Asian International Exhibition of Textile
Machinery) + CITME (China International Textile Machinery Exhibition) 2008. This event is Asia’s largest international textile machinery and accessories exhibition, having the strong support of trade associations and their members from China (CTMA), Japan (JTMA) and Europe - ACIMIT (Italy), AMEC/AMTEX (Spain), BTMA (UK), GTM (Netherlands), Swissmem (Switzerland), Symatex (Belgium), TMAS (Sweden), UCMTF (France) and VDMA (Germany).

CEMATEX (The European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers) who had been issuing invoices to the exhibiting companies quitted and MP Asia Pte Ltd had been tasked to take over. However, everything that was handed over to us was in a mess and we had to start everything from scratch, from building up of database to tracking down of the exhibiting companies who had paid for the first 20% deposit. I was tasked to churn out invoices for the balance payment for the exhibiting companies. After one week plus of late nights, I was finally done with churning out all the invoices. I thought work would be easier and I could get to go home early after that but that was not the case. We kept receiving updates on the exhibitors and their booths. So each time we had to update our database and our invoices. Other than updating, we had to double-check and double-check and double-check. Each day, I will be sitting in front of the computer the whole day and looking through files after files. Each of us needs to be clear of what we are doing and also what the rest of the team is doing. We also need to be always “on the ball”. This is important so that each of us were able to help out one another when things crop up.

Other than the Projects Department, I got to know my colleagues from the Accounting Department better. Yen, Seok Noi and Helen, the Accounts Executives, were always willing to help and answer any of my doubts and they would always explain to me very patiently. I am a person who was not very good with numbers and so I do not like Accounting much. It took me quite a while to understand the formulas in the excel sheet. I had also learnt to issue Statement of Accounts. Through this whole new experience, I learnt to be alert of the things that were going on around me. For instance, while I was typing out invoices, I had to know at the same time, what Carol and Max were discussing about as I need to be aware of those information as well. Then automatically, like as if I was in their conversation, they would look as at me asked, “Got it?” And I would look back at them and replied, “Got it!” It is like I-know-you-know-I-know-you kind of chemistry. I had also learnt to be precise and consistent in my work, especially after so many rounds of double-checking and double-checking and double-checking.

Along the way, we had fun too. Especially after working hours because everyone is in the after-office-hours kind of mood. There were always lots of laughters which helped to lighted up the serious work atmosphere. There were times where Carol brought us out for lunch to reward our hard work, went out for dinner cum supper after work, and even booked an appointment for a foot reflexology.

Through my 15 weeks of internship, apart from getting to know my working colleagues well, I get to know myself better. I’m clearer of what I want to do after I graduate from this course, what I am looking out for when I look for a job and most importantly, what kind of a person I really am. I also got a clearer perspective of the MICE industry. I felt that I have grown in terms of my thinking, about the way I see certain things. I had gained new experience, gained more knowledge and learnt new skills which I believed that I will always remember throughout the rest of my future endeavours.
